Table tennis doubles is a competitive event in which two athletes from each side take turns hitting the ball in a specific order. The rules have special requirements for the order and area of serving and receiving:a center line is set in the center of the table to divide the left and right halves, and serving must be placed in the right half of the player's own side and the right half or center line of the opponent's side in sequence. The serving party needs to determine the starting player for each game, and the receiving party needs to rotate according to the rules. In the decisive game, the receiving party needs to adjust the order of the receiving players to ensure fairness.

A competition event in which two athletes from each side take turns hitting the ball in the order specified by the rules. The competition methods and rules are basically the same as singles, but doubles has special regulations on the order of serving, receiving, and hitting. In the center of the table tennis table, there is a 3mm wide white line called the midline, which evenly divides the table into left and right halves. In doubles matches, the right half serves as the serving area(see figure). When serving, the ball must first land on their own serving area or center line, and then on the opponent's serving area or center line, otherwise it will be judged as a loss of points by the serving party. The serving party in the first game of doubles should first determine the first player, while the receiving party can arbitrarily determine the first player, and then exchange serves and receivers in the prescribed order.Afterwards, the first player to serve in each game can be determined arbitrarily, while the receiving player must be served by the corresponding player from the previous game. When exchanging positions in the decisive game, the order of serving remains unchanged, but the receiving team should exchange the order of the receiving players. These regulations are based on the principle of equal opportunities for both sides of the game.
